Accuretic
combines two types of blood pressure medication, quinapril
and hydrochloride.
Quinapril
is in a class of drugs called angiotensin-converting-enzyme
inhibitors (ACE inhibitors). Quinapril is used to lower
blood pressure and to relieve the symptoms of congestive
heart failure, including shortness of breath and
swelling of the legs.
Hydrochlorothiazide
is a thiazide diuretic (water pill); it increases the
amount of salt and water lost in the urine.
Hydrochlorothiazide is used to lower blood pressure and
to decrease edema (swelling).
Possible
Side Effects
Persistent
cough.
Diarrhea,
headache.
Increased
sensitivity of skin to sunlight (skin rash,
itching or redness).
Loss
of taste or appetite.
Stomach
upset.
Unusual
tiredness.
Although
many of these symptoms subside as your body
adjusts to the medicine, check with your doctor
should any persist.
